Rush Editing

Why are professional family photos expensive?
Photos are expensive because you’re not just paying for an hour of someone’s time (as a matter of fact, this is usually the shortest increment of time spent for the overall session). You’re paying for years of experience, professional equipment, hours of editing, and the full client experience from booking to gallery delivery. It adds up fast behind the scenes.
How many photos do you usually get from a family session?
It varies by photographer and package. Standard sessions usually deliver 40 to 75 edited photos. Always confirm this before you book.
My full sessions include at LEAST 60 digital images, but most of the time I deliver 100+. Either way, the full gallery is yours. Half sessions include 20 digital images of your choice from the online gallery, with the option to purchase more ($25 per image for 1-2 additional images, $20 for 3+ additional images). Mini sessions include 5 digital images plus the option to purchase more. All delivered images are full resolution and non-watermarked.
Are mini sessions worth it?
They can be. Mini sessions work well for simple updates or holiday cards. The longer I’ve been in business, the more I’m finding taht mini sessions are not ideal for families with young kids who need time to warm up. If you want a relaxed experience with more variety, a half or full session are usually the better fit.

When is the best time of year for family photos in Ohio?
Often, the best time for family photos are in Spring and fall, for several reasons. The light is soft, the temps are comfortable, and the scenery looks great. Fall books up fast in Columbus, so plan ahead if you want October or November. However, I’ll shoot anytime of the year and enjoy getting creative with locations, etc.
What should we wear for family photos?
Skip the exact matching outfits. Pick a color palette instead and let each person wear something within it. Avoid busy patterns or large logos. Layers and texture photograph well. When in doubt, ask your photographer for guidance.
